Wet ‘n’ Wild Limited Edition Silver Lake Nail Polish Swatches

Hello!

I have some swatches to share of four of the Wet ‘n’ Wild Limited Edition Silver Lake Collection nail polishes. There were 6 colors on the display, and the two that I did not purchase were pale nude colors. I fell for the bright pastels because these are my favorite kinds of colors. The four shades I picked up are:

Tree Hugger- Pale mint green
Warm Filter- Bright, warm coralWear Skinny Jeans- Periwinkle blue
Reject the Mainstream- Bright lavender

Wear Skinny Jeans, Warm Filter, Tree Hugger, Reject the Mainstream

On the color wheel, all polishes swatched nicely. Tree Hugger was the thinnest, while Warm Filter was the most opaque. All went on smooth and had nice brushes. I think my favorite color, predictably, is Warm Filter.

These retail for $2 depending on where you get them, and I think that’s a great price, because these polishes usually have a fantastic formula.

High End Polish Haul!

I recently picked up some high end nail polishes that I have had my eye on for awhile. Let’s jump into it, shall we?

First, I decided to get two more Marc Jacobs polishes. I had my eye on Jezebel for many moons, so I decided to just pick it up this time. It is a deep vampy red shade with just a touch of brightness. Cora is a shimmering burgundy with rose microglitter. This color is really unique!

MAC released a bunch of interesting toppers this year in addition to actually lowering their polish prices. I picked up two of them: Too Short Skirt (coral with pink pearl) and Spoonful of Sugar (pink with pink pearl).

Personally, I find MAC polishes underrated as I have said many times! I love how they wear and I like the color selection.

My big splurge was Dior Lady. I’m a SUCKER for a neutral and natural pink. This is new for spring and every once in awhile I like to splurge on something from Dior if I think it is fantastic, and Lady certainly fits the bill. 🙂

The last thing I picked up was actually with Sephora points perks, and that is the Pink Gel Coat from Perfect Formula. I heard a few raves about this, and since it was a 100 point perk, I decided to give it a try! So far I don’t have any major opinions on it, but I’m anxious to see if it strengthens my nails, since they are pretty weak.

Sinful Colors Real Teal

Real Teal is a ‘silk’ finish polish (satin) that my BFF gifted to me. This color is beautiful in the bottle, but even prettier on the nails! It seriously has that glow factor, and the very fine shimmer is GORGEOUS in the sunshine.

The formula is very thin. I have found this to be the case with other satin polishes. I used three coats for opacity here. Despite being thin, I didn’t have any application problems with it. Since satins seem to be popular right now, I hope that Sinful Colors comes out with more of them for this spring and summer! 🙂

Jamberry Application Kit Review

When I purchased my first couple of Jamberry wraps, I also purchased the application kit ($12 without oil). The kit comes with the following items:

• 2 alcohol wipes
• 1 pair of scissors
• 1 pair of  nail clippers
• 1 buffer block
• 2 orange sticks
• 1 rubber cuticle pusher
• 1 nail file

Everything is contained in a small Jamberry bag, which is where I also keep my wraps. I recently used this kit to apply my wraps before a 5-day trip to Disney World. My wraps stayed on the entire time, although I did have some wear, which is expected since I am pretty rough on my hands.

I am happy I purchased this kit, just for the rubber cuticle pusher. I use this for smoothing the wraps onto my fingers. This is really helpful because my nails are so small. The alcohol wipes are pretty large, so if you cut them in half, you can get more uses.

The scissors I usually use for trimming my wraps. The nail clippers I don’t have any need for since my nails are so short, but they are appreciated as I can always use them on my toes.

Overall, for $12 I think this is a good kit and helpful in applying the wraps. I would buy it again just for the cuticle pusher. 🙂

 

L’Oreal Snow Ball

Snow Ball is a polish from L’Oreal’s Holiday 2014 line. I’m still seeing this in stores, so you might be able to find it. I highly recommend it, as it is an amazing glitter! I layered it over Sinful Colors Real Teal above, and that is just ONE coat, so you really get a lot onto the brush and it lays flat.

This is a multi-colored holographic glitter polish. If you like serious glitter and sparkle, get out and find this one! I like that the glitter pieces are on the larger size and that they are easy to get out of the bottle. I can’t stand it when I have to fish for glitter. 🙂

Overall, I’m very happy that I picked this one up and see myself wearing it A LOT!

OPI Where Did Suzi’s Man-go?

Where Did Suzi’s Man-Go? is, as you would expect, light mango orange. This shade is from the Brazil collection that came out in summer 2014. Lately I have been wearing orange quite a bit, and these light shades that border creamsicle are my favorite types.

The formula on this is very smooth, and it is opaque in two coats.

I definitely recommend this color if you’re looking for a vibrant orange color with a touch of pastel to it. 🙂 It is a fantastic polish for spring and summer. This would especially look great on those with medium to dark skin tones, but us paler ladies can still rock it too. 🙂

Marc Jacobs Midnight in Paris

Marc Jacobs polishes are a luxurious, guilty pleasure for me. They’re $18, so not the most expensive polishes around, but it’s still a lot for a nail polish. Midnight in Paris is a (still available) limited edition polish that was released during the holidays in 2014. It is more expensive than other shades in the line at $24, but it also comes with special packaging, as it is in a fancy box with velvet and a little booklet.

The big deal here is “never before, never again”. I thought the color was GORGEOUS so I ended up getting it during the VIB sale, so there was a little discount.

This is a beautiful color. It’s an inky deep blue that looks almost black in some lighting. The shine is amazing and the formula is very smooth. It is opaque in one coat, but I always use two thin coats out of habit.

The only bad thing about this polish is that my brush is terrible and I need to cut some of the splayed bristles off. 😦 The brush was really upsetting. If you go through the trouble of building up this polish, only to have a bad brush, what is the point? I would expect a poor brush for a bottle of polish that was under $5, but a $24 polish should NOT have a bad brush.

Anyway, I do love the color and was able to work around the brush issue. It’s just nail polish anyway, right??

That said, this is a fantastic color and perfect for winter. I love it!

Illamasqua Peruzzi

Peruzzi is a textured polish from Illamasqua that I was thrilled to get my hands on. I purchased it from Hautelook, since Illamasqua is impossible to find in the USA these days.

The formula is a little thick, but not hard to work with. You can easily get away with one coat. I found that it dried quickly and it wears REALLY well, as this brand usually does on me! I also love this color. The sparkle is high and it’s just so pretty!

I definitely recommend picking up this polish if you can. 🙂 Keep an eye out for Illamasqua on Hautelook!

Sally Hansen Tupelo Honey

This color from Sally Hansen really caught my eye! Tupelo Honey is a new polish from the Sally Hansen Salon Manicure line. These aren’t my favorite polishes usually, but every once in awhile they have shades that catch my eye. Also, can I just say that I can’t stand how these bottles are shaped?

Anyway, Tupelo Honey has a great formula. This could be a one-coater with a thicker coat, but I used two thin coats.

The color reminds me of the limited edition Butter London nudes that were out some time ago. It’s a rich, deep honey color.

This color really reminds me of fall! 🙂

Essie Blossom Dandy

Essie Blossom Dandy is a polish that I saw on the Essie display and grabbed without even hesitating. Minty blue? Yes, please! Actually, I’m not sure if I would call this quite “mint”. It’s definitely more blue than green.

The formula is not bad for it being a pastel. It is a little streaky, but I was able to get away with two coats. This is from the Spring 2015 collection. There are a couple other colors that I have my eye on too, but for now I’m sticking with Blossom Dandy. And that name- how cute is it?
