Trout Pout + Sparkle Manicure

TroutPout

You may know already that Butter London Trout Pout is my favorite polish of all time. It’s just perfect! 🙂 I love wearing it year round, but especially in spring and summer. I decided to pair it here with Revlon Sequins and a light layer of Butter London The 444, which is a glittery champagne polish.

Sequins is a limited edition shade, but it is similar to Deborah Lippmann’s Boom Boom Pow. It is a gold glitter, which doesn’t seem very unique, but the way the glitter is laid out makes it special, in my opinion. 🙂 I wish Revlon would bring this one back!

What is your favorite color to wear in the spring?

Dupe Alert! Zoya Maria Luisa and Revlon Gold Goddess

dupe3

Happy Friday out there! I have a polish dupe to share today: Revlon Gold Goddess is definitely a dupe for Zoya’s Maria Luisa. This is a favorite layering shade for me. The dupe is from a new Revlon summer display from Gucci Westman, so keep an eye out for it at your drugstores!

Revlon Gold Goddess, Zoya Maria Luisa

Revlon, Zoya

The only difference I see in this polish is that the Revlon has more coverage, while Maria Luisa is more sparse.

The colors, at least from my field of vision, are exactly the same. Zoya isn’t always the easiest brand to find, so if you have that problem, take a look to see if you can find this Revlon collection.

Both shades are easy to apply and are gorgeous. I think Revlon has great nail polish for the price point, usually $5 or less, while Zoya is $9 (BUT they are 5-free as well). Either way, I love this topper and think it is GORGEOUS! If you missed my post about Maria Luisa previously, check it out here.

Revlon Nail Manicure Set by Marchesa

Revlon

Hello! I’ve been a bit absent here lately because I started a new job. I now have three jobs and am trying to juggle them all for the time being! If you haven’t already seen the news, Marchesa has paired up with Revlon to create some gorgeous nail items, from nail wraps to files to this adorable manicure set. I purchased mine for $6, and I wish I would have known there was a pink one too, because I definitely would have gotten that one instead! Anyway, I do like the black and gold, and it is very chic.

revlon2

This set comes with an emery board file, a metal nail file, a cuticle trimmer, and a nail cutter. I love metal nail files, so I find this set very useful, and I like how the pouch holds everything together neatly. The cuticle trimmer is amazing! Since my hands are very dry right now, I’ve already used this tool a couple times.

This little set is just $6, which is a great price for so many useful tools! I’m really happy with it. 🙂 You can find the Revlon/Marchesa beauty tools at several retailers, like Target, Wal-Mart, and Walgreens.

Revlon Rich Raspberry

rasp11

I love the Revlon Colorstay line of nail polish. If you get the entire system (base coat, top coat, and polish) the polish is very long lasting. It does take awhile to dry since the top coat is not of the “fast” variety like Seche Vite, but the shine is lovely. The claim is 11 days, but I haven’t tested it for that long.

Rich Raspberry is a classic fuchsia shade. It is opaque in two coats and very creamy. I love this color even though it is nothing unique.

As you can see my nails are WAY short. They were finally getting longer again and then I broke the index finger. That is my most broken fingernail for some reason!

Anyway, I’m glad I broke out this pink to wear. It’s so cheerful and bright; a nice change from the cloudy weather here!

Manicure Spam 4

sequins1

Hey Everyone! I had to reformat my memory card and noticed I had a few old manicures on it, so I decided to make this very blue themed manicure spam post! First up is Illamasqua Noble with Revlon Sequins on top. Sequins is a limited edition shade that came out over the holidays last year. It is a dupe for Deborah Lippmann’s Boom Boom Pow. I love this glitter and am glad that I busted it out again. Gold glitters are a favorite of mine, which is funny because there was a time in my life where I hated gold anything.

This photo isn’t the greatest as it is quite dark, but this is Models Own Boobloo with Sally Hansen Ice Pop on top. Ice Pop is really gorgeous as a topper; it is limited edition, comprised of very tiny gold glitters and some shimmer as well. Boobloo is a nice baby blue; the formula is a little thick but not impossible to work with.

Finally, China Glaze Aquadelic topped with Finger Paints Fall of Surprises glitter. This was so much prettier in person since this shot doesn’t capture the sparkle of the glitter! Aquadelic is an amazing polish. It is opaque in ONE coat and it is really bright!

Do you have any glitter top coats I need to know about?

Ten Polish Picks for Fall Under $5

fallFall is just around the corner, or already here depending on how you look at it! 🙂 I like to go headstrong into fall once September 1st arrives, but that’s because it is my favorite season! Actually, we had our first red leaf on our tree in July. I don’t want to know what that means for winter!

Today I am sharing ten budget polish picks. ALL of these polishes are under five bucks! Some of these are new, some are limited edition, and others are old classics, but with rich jewel tones and of course some sparkle and creme formulas, there is a variety to choose from for the season.fall2

Revlon Cherries in the Snow ($4) -This historical shade is perfect for the entire year, but if you’re going to wear pink in the fall you can’t go wrong with this one! It’s looking quite red here, as it is a pink-red shade. Marilyn Monroe herself rocked this color!

Revlon Divine ($4)– This is a new shade for fall from Gucci Westman’s Fall/Winter collaboration with Revlon, entitled Evening Opulence. Divine is a rich, deep burgundy shade.

Milani High Speed Fast Dry in Rapid Orchid ($3.50-$4)– Rapid Orchid is a new shade in Milani’s Fast Dry line up. It is a very vampy deep purple shade, almost black.

Sally Hansen Insta-Dry in Jet Set Jade ($4)- This is a new, limited edition shade for fall from Sally Hansen’s Rent the Runway collaborations. Jet Set Jade is a very rich green, perfect for right now and as we transition into the holidays!

fall3

Maybelline Color Show Vintage Leather in Plush Plum ($3-$4)– This is another limited edition shade that is currently showing up at drugstores and convenience stores. The vintage leather formula is matte and slightly textured with flakies. Purple and plum is having a major moment right now, though it’s always pretty popular in fall.

Sinful Colors Slate ($2)- This gray shade makes for a lovely neutral with a hint of shimmer; great for the cooler weather out there. This is also very pretty with silver glitter added as a top coat!

NYC Broadway Burgundy ($1)– This polish is a real steal! Just one dollar, it is a red jelly with red microglitter. Not only that, it’s opaque in two coats and really shines on the nail! This polish is a cheaper alternative to China Glaze Ruby Pumps.

Sinful Colors Blue Suede Shoes ($3)– Part of the Sinful Shine with Gel Tech line, Blue Suede Shoes is a dusty blue creme. You can get away with just one coat, and it has nice shine even without a topcoat.

fall4

Wet ‘n’ Wild Megalast The Bronze Age ($2)– The Bronze Age is a gorgeous cool-toned bronze with fine silver shimmer. Another great neutral, this one is perfect for holiday parties!

Revlon Scandalous ($4)– A dupe for Deborah Lippmann’s Bad Romance, this is deep fuchsia glitter suspended in a black base. Since plums and purples are so big this fall, this classic is one to bust out for sure!

What are your budget picks for fall nail polish?

Revlon Saucy

saucy11

Do you ever buy a polish just for the name? Sometimes I just can’t help myself. When I saw “Saucy” from Revlon, I immediately thought of my grandma (yes, the woman who inspired this blog!). If I was ever misbehaving she broke out this phrase: “Don’t be saucy!” Of course, she meant sassy…but when she said it in that stern voice, it was enough to scare me because she meant BUSINESS!

This color is actually quite gorgeous! It’s a burnt red orange with shimmer and seriously GLOWS on the nail! The formula is great well! It is opaque in two coats and glides onto the nail nicely. This is a great shade for fall! I love Revlon’s nail polish and think it is great for the price!

Revlon Mai Tai Ask? + Picture Polish Majesty

maitai

I have been really into orange this summer. Mai Tai Ask? is a shade that was out in Revlon’s summer line. I decided to layer it with Picture Polish Majesty, and I really like how it turned out!
Mai Tai Ask? is a bright, tangerine orange color. I like the formula of Revlon polishes. They are usually opaque in two coats (I used two here), and they go on the nail smoothly. Majesty is a gorgeous antique champagne beige gold shade. It’s a difficult polish to describe, because it seems to change in different lighting due to the HOLO PARTICLES! 🙂 Because of that, I find it quite unique! It is very sheer, so I think this will be a layering polish for me. I want to try it with some other polishes, especially some nude shades that will bring out the sparkle even more.

Revlon Colorstay Seashell

seashell11

I really love the Revlon Colorstay polish line. These perform amazingly well if you use the entire system: the base coat, polish, and top coat. You can get all three for around $15 depending where you shop, and of course this provides multiple uses! Seashell is a new shade that appeared in the Gucci Westman Summer 2013 line, the Pacific Coast collection.

The name of this polish is just perfect, I think. Seashell is a very sheer pink; this is just two coats. More opacity can be achieved with a ridge filler base coat and of course more coats of polish, but I think it is very pretty with just two. It is light and summery, great for a casual weekend when you want to look totally natural. This would be a good shade to do French manicures with as well (which I’ve never done!). It’s kind of a pinky peach, definitely more on the pink side. I think it’s gorgeous and will definitely get a lot of wear out of it. I’ve been favoring shades like this lately!

What do you think of Seashell?

Revlon Strawberry Cream

SC11

Strawberry Cream is a limited edition polish that Revlon released last year with a collection of scented polishes. I have wanted this color for awhile now, and was excited to find it in a two pack at Big Lots that was only $2! I hate the way these polishes smell when they dry, but this color is pretty enough to deal with it!

I’ve read about people having trouble with the formula of this polish, but I didn’t think it was bad at all. I used three thin coats for opacity. This is the perfect mix of pink and peach, and it looks so dreamy and creamy on the nails. I definitely recommend checking your local Big Lots to see if you can find it!
