Roy G Biv Series: Yellow!

yellow1

Oh yellow…one of the BEST colors to wear, but the absolute most difficult to find a good formula for; am I right? Nevertheless, I do have ten fantastic shades of yellow to share!

yellow2

OPI You’re So Flippy Floppy– WHY is this shade a) not permanent, and b) only available as a MINI? This yellow is fantastic! It’s available in the OPI Brazil Beach Sandies set.

Nicole by OPI Sand in My Shoe– Another textured polish, this one from the NOPI Roughles collection. I love the unique texture of these. This one also has some red speckles in it.

Sally Hansen Butterscotch– I love colors like this in the fall. This is the perfect mustard yellow.

Hello Kitty Banana Cream– Said to be the closest dupe for Maybelline Banana Pudding (a cult favorite), this is a beautiful, pastel yellow cream. The formula isn’t amazing, but it isn’t terrible either.

yellow3

OPI I Just Can’t Cope-Acabana– No words needed. Best. Yellow. Ever. Flawless formula, and it’s super cheery.

China Glaze Celtic Sun– This is your classic neon highlighter yellow color. I love neon. I never tire of it!

China Glaze Lemon Fizz– Another classic, cheerful yellow. This one leans pastel, so it’s perfect for spring.

yellow4

Butter London Cheeky Chops– This is another bright and cheerful color; more subdued than Cope-Acabana, but brighter than Lemon Fizz. It’s kind of like a light egg yolk.

Sally Hansen Lemon Shark– This is from the Triple Shine line of polishes, and it’s surprisingly good. It’s very bright on the nail. The formula is a little thin, so you will probably need 3 coats for opacity.

Sally Hansen Hue– It’s been a year and a half since I first blogged about this yellow shade from the Hi-Definition collection (now discontinued). What a great collection that was. I love this color and the formula is great. It’s worth looking for on eBay if you can find it!

ROY-G-BIV Series: Orange!

orange1

Welcome to the next post in the ROY-G-BIV series! If you missed the first one, I am going through the colors of the rainbow and showing my polish favorites. This installment features my favorite orange shades!

orange2

First up is OPI Where Did Suzi’s Man-Go? – This is from the Brazil collection. It is a very soft, peachy orange shade. It looks lighter in person.

OPI A Roll in the Hague is a bright, vibrant true orange. This is from the Holland collection.

Zoya Sharon is a soft, pale orange. It is limited edition, but Zoya Arizona is a dupe.

Dior Abricot (also known as Apricot) is described as a “light, shimmering apricot”. This color is so unique, delicate and pretty. Love this shade!

orange3

Zoya Thandie is a very orange coral. The formula is great and this shade is very summery. It looks a little lighter in person.

Cos Bar Copper is a polish that my mom bought for me awhile back, and it is one of my favorite orange shades! This color is so fantastic. It’s metallic and really GLOWS on the nail!

China Glaze Riveting is from the Hunger Games collection, and it is seriously fire on the nails. It is a must-see in person. People who don’t like orange at all might even like this one; it is that pretty!

Finger Paints Circus Peanuts is a pale, pinky pastel orange. I love this because I think of my grandma (yep, the one who inspired this blog) every time I wear it. She loves circus peanuts!

orange4

MAC Sweet Pop, oh how I adore you. Probably my favorite of the bunch, right here. It’s a pale pastel orange; it looks lighter in person.

Maybelline Coral Glow is a limited edition color. I love this polish so much that I bought a backup of it last year. It truly does glow! If you like it, you can still find it on Amazon.

ROY-G-BIV Series: Reds!

red12

Hello! I decided to partake in the popular YouTube ROY-G-BIV series. It’s exactly what it sounds like: you go through the rainbow with your favorite polish shades. I’m not completely sure who came up with this originally, but I think it was Holly! Correct me if I’m wrong, girl! 😉 I’m hoping to write one ROY-G-BIV post per week, and naturally I will be adding pink. 😉

I had a hard time picking ten reds..not because I don’t love it, but because I LOVE it too much. There are so many great reds out there, but I managed to narrow it down. 🙂

red2

OPI Over & Over A Gwen– Classic bright red, blue-based cream. This is the type of red every woman should own!

Layla Ceramic Effect 53- This is a red flakie in a jelly-like base that seriously GLOWS. It looks amazing paired over other reds.

OPI Royal Rajah Ruby- From the OPI India collection, this is a favorite because of how rich it looks. It’s a deep burgundy color with hints of gold shimmer.

MAC Riri Woo– Quite possibly my favorite red. This just has something about it. It’s a bright, blue-based cream, but there’s something about it that I just can’t put my finger on that makes this different. I love it.

red3

China Glaze Ruby Red Pumps– A cult classic! Ruby slippers for your nail.

Butter London Knees Up– Metallic red. This is amazing alone and with glitter.

Butter London Abso-Bloody-Lutely– Blood red jelly polish. I love, love, love.

OPI Vodka & Caviar– Bright red jelly. I love this color so much. This is the ultimate red jelly, but unfortunately it’s hard to find.

red1

OPI Skyfall– I don’t know what it is about this color, but it is so sexy to me! It’s a dark burgundy red. I love this in the fall.

OPI Magazine Cover Mouse– This is a liquid sand shade that really glows on the nail.

Honorable mention:

  • Illamasqua Scarab
  • NARS Yoshiwara
  • OPI All I Want for Christmas is OPI

What are your favorite red nail polishes? Any must haves or recommendations? Stay tuned for orange!
