Sparkly Gold and Mint Manicure

mint

Hello! I hope you’re having a good week. I’ve been totally hooked on this gold polish I have: Sephora by OPI The Golden Age. It’s just gold glitter with a touch of some silver, but I’ve layering it with everything lately!

In this manicure, I used Zoya Tomoko as accent colors, and Pop Beauty’s Mint Magic as the base layer. This color is SO pretty! My pic is a little dark due to it being winter (natural lighting is poor), but I really got a dose of spring with this manicure. Also, I really like Tomoko! The sparkle is so pretty and the Fairy Dust formula really wears like iron!

What colors have you been enjoying lately?

Black and Gold Manicure with OPI 4 in the Morning

opi11

The new Gwen Stefani and OPI collaboration has been out for some time now. I waited to see some swatches before making my picks, and I really loved 4 in the Morning! This polish is a dark charcoal shade with a satin finish; I have top coat on in these photos, but the satin finish looks like a soft leather couch or bag. It’s very pretty!

I used top coat because I added some gold glitter with Sephora by OPI The Golden Age. I LOVE this glitter so much! They aren’t sold at Sephora anymore, but they are popping up at discount shops like Big Lots. If you see it, I highly recommend this glitter.

4 in the Morning has an amazing formula. It is almost opaque in one coat, but I used two.

Did you get anything from the Gwen Stefani collection? I thought the colors would be a little more out there since Gwen is so fun with her style, but I really like this color.

Nicole by OPI -Sweet Daisy

I can’t say that I’m a Carrie Underwood fan, (SORRY, HOLLY!), but her nail polish collaboration with Nicole by OPI is really gorgeous. I only picked up this shade, Sweet Daisy (though I’m trying to resist the brighter pink…). Sweet Daisy is a dusty salmon color.

This color is so pretty and feminine! It looks amazing paired with gold glitter (a current obsession of mine). I used two coats for opacity.

I found my polish at Meijer, but the majority of the collection was sold out. If you see a display, I recommend getting what you want right then, because that seems to be the trend!

Did you get anything from this collection?

Revlon Nail Manicure Set by Marchesa

Revlon

Hello! I’ve been a bit absent here lately because I started a new job. I now have three jobs and am trying to juggle them all for the time being! If you haven’t already seen the news, Marchesa has paired up with Revlon to create some gorgeous nail items, from nail wraps to files to this adorable manicure set. I purchased mine for $6, and I wish I would have known there was a pink one too, because I definitely would have gotten that one instead! Anyway, I do like the black and gold, and it is very chic.

This set comes with an emery board file, a metal nail file, a cuticle trimmer, and a nail cutter. I love metal nail files, so I find this set very useful, and I like how the pouch holds everything together neatly. The cuticle trimmer is amazing! Since my hands are very dry right now, I’ve already used this tool a couple times.

This little set is just $6, which is a great price for so many useful tools! I’m really happy with it. 🙂 You can find the Revlon/Marchesa beauty tools at several retailers, like Target, Wal-Mart, and Walgreens.

2013 Polish Favorites: Part 2!

polish3

Welcome to Part 2 of my 2013 nail polish favorites! Obviously, I had a hard time narrowing things down this year. Also, sorry for the bad lighting. It’s winter, and the sunlight isn’t always the greatest! 🙂

Let’s get into the polish, shall we?

Deborah Lippmann Shake Your Money Maker– Green glitter bomb. If you like green and glitter, this is a must have.

Deborah Lippman Glitter and Be Gay– Gold glitter bomb! This one NEEDS to be seen in person. The sparkle is mind blowing.

Nicole by OPI Still Into Pink– Neon hot pink, awesome formula. I love how bright this is!

Oops…Zoya Yana again! I must have really loved this one in 2013! 😉

MAC Pistachio Creme– This is more blue than green, which is what I think of with pistachios, but I love this color and the formula. MAC nail polish also lasts a long time on my nails.

Sally Hansen Jade Jump– Pale light green cream. Green lovers need this color, especially if you light pastels.

Sally Hansen Twinkle Toes-ty– Another gold glitter bomb with an awesome formula. This polish is SO pretty! They are still in stores too, so this shade is definitely worth checking out. I can’t believe how much I’ve worn this already.

Sally Hansen Butterscotch– I love this butterscotch yellow. This had to be mentioned because I drove all over town looking for it. I’m glad that I did, because this shade of yellow is hard to come by.

China Glaze Keep Calm, Paint On– Another polish from the Avant Garden collection. I am so happy I stumbled on these at Sally’s when they were on clearance, because they are so gorgeous!

Finally, Fresh Paint Guava. This is a polish I actually got a baby shower. It is a hot neon coral that is really hard to capture on camera!

What were your polish favorites in 2013?

2013 Polish Favorites: Part One!

POLISH

Hello! Welcome to my 2013 nail polish favorites post…the first part anyway. 🙂 There are SO many great polishes that I fell in love with this year, so I had a hard time narrowing it down. This was my first full year of not biting my nails, and it has been about two years since I quit.

polish4

Dior Princess, Zoya Rocky, MAC Sweet Pop

Since I’m of the excitable personality type, I’m going to start with my FAVORITE polish of the year: Dior Princess! This is named perfectly, as it is a feminine pink with silver shimmer. This was a limited edition spring release, but you may be able to find it on eBay or at some counters. This is also a little sentimental since I bought it in Chicago while on a little getaway with my hubby.

Next up: Zoya Rocky. Zoya really impressed me in 2013. Their cream shades seemed to improve and the colors are soft, yet vibrant. Rocky is a gorgeous blue with the slightest hint of dustiness.

MAC Sweet Pop might be one of my top ten polishes ever! It is a not-quite-neon peach shade. Love!

polish5

Zoya Micky, China Glaze Dandy Lyin’ Around, China Glaze Snap My Dragon, Essie Maximillian Strasse Her

Zoya Micky is coming across a little dark here, but it’s described as “coral cream”. It definitely leans pink, and it has some slight silver shimmer.

China Glaze Dandy Lyin’ Around is a beautiful white shade with silver and white micro shimmer. The formula is incredible and this is definitely one of the best white polishes I’ve come across.

China Glaze Snap My Dragon- Another pick from the Avant Garden collection, Snap My Dragon is opaque in one coat and glows on the nail.

Essie Maximillian Strasse Her is a gray green shade that I wear all the time. It reminds me of a rainy day.

polish2

Butter London: Bit Faker, Kerfuffle, Fiver, and The 444

The next four are all Butter London shades.

Bit Faker– An explosion of bronze glitter.
Kerfuffle- Pale, peachy pink. Hubby picked out this one for me!
Fiver– Pastel mint
The 444– Champagne glitter!

polish6

Maybelline Coral Glow, Paul and Joe Toujours, Zoya Yana, Illamasqua Scarce

Maybelline Coral Glow is a limited edition polish that I loved so much on the nail, that I bought a backup. It’s a hot pinky coral that really does glow. It has that “lit from within” quality.

Paul and Joe Toujours– Another pink, I know…I just can’t help myself! This color is the ultimate girly pink, a little on the old-fashioned side.

Zoya Yana– Deep red-based pink. 🙂

Illamasqua Scarce…speckled, neutral PINK!

oPI

OPI: Pussy Galore, Solitaire, and When Monkeys Fly

The last of the bunch on this wheel are from OPI, including two liquid sands from the Bond Girls collection, Pussy Galore (light pink), and Solitaire (shimmery, silver white). My other OPI favorite is from the Oz collection: When Monkeys Fly.

Stay tuned for more favorites to come! 🙂

Holiday Polish Haul!

haul3

Hello and Happy New Year! I’m finally done with my holiday traveling and am ready to settle into 2014. I did get some nail related goodies for Christmas, and picked up some on my own as well.

My sister gave me the entire China Glaze Magnetic nail polish set, and it is SO gorgeous! The rich jewel tones really appeal to me.  Thank you, Molly!

haul

Zoya Rue– This was a purchase I made. One of my cats is named Rhoda, and we always call her “Roo”. That combined with the gorgeous color…well, I got suckered into that pink nude!

Revlon Top Speed in Pink Lingerie– I haven’t seen this polish near me, and bought it while my husband and I were visiting his family. I love the Top Speed formula, and this color is just totally me.

Sally Hansen Glitter Gun– Gold and white glitter. I had to! Plus, it was under a buck at Target. Thank you, clearance!

Sinful Colors Decadent– Red glitter! Another clearance find. Glad I caught this one before the holidays ended too.

CoverGirl Glosstini in Red Rouge- This is the color of FIRE, and it was in my Christmas stocking from the in-laws. Very pretty…can’t wait to wear this on my toes!

Catrice Pinkroque was sent in a swap from my dear friend Luchessa!  I can’t wait to wear this and try the brand too. Thank you, Luchessa!  You know my kind of colors! 😉

haul2

L’Oreal Collection Privee in Doutzen’s Nude– This is a pink nude, slightly darker than Zoya Rue.

Sally Hansen Satin Glam in Go Gold– This is a new textured polish, and it looks amazing in the bottle. Satin seems to be the finish that will be popular in 2014, so I’m looking forward to seeing what this is like.

Pretty soon I will be posting my favorite polishes of 2013, so stay turned for that! 🙂
