MAC Quick Million

QM11

Hello! It has been so long since I’ve posted here, which I do feel bad about! Time just got away from me, and to be honest, my nails have not been in the greatest condition, and it is discouraging. 😦 Since it’s winter now, and the environment has been cold and wet since fall, my nails tend to get really soft and break easily due to all of the running I do outside. It’s pretty frustrating! Anyway, hopefully I will get back to it, even if my nails aren’t the greatest on the planet.

MAC Quick Million is a mix of yellow gold and pink/peach toned hexagons. It isn’t quite that unique since Essie and Maybelline have colors like this that are similar. That said, the formula is better and it lasts longer than those two brands.

MAC polishes are only $12 now, which is a pretty good price point since they used to be in the $16 range. They also improved their formula and released a bunch of new shades. If you like sparkle, this is a good one!

MAC Silly

Silly11

MAC Silly is a bright pink cream from a limited edition MAC collection. Even though this is LE, I’m pretty sure this can be found at CCO stores now, so if you like it, take a look there!

I have many pinks, but find this one interesting. The white balance here gives this a pale, but still vibrant vibe. You know it’s a good polish when you can’t stop staring at your nails.

The formula is a little streaky, so I had to use two coats. I generally have good luck with MAC polishes and find they wear for a long time on my nails.

February Polish Favorites!

polishfave

I really wanted to get back to doing favorites here, so I thought why not start? Of course all of my favorites are appropriately in the red and pink spectrum of colors for February; how perfect for Valentine’s Day!

OPI Kiss Me, I’m Brazilian– Vibrant pink creme. I just posted about this one. 🙂

OPI Live.Love.Carnaval– Another one I recently reviewed. This one is on my toes right now. Love these vibrant Brazil collection shades!

Butter London Stardust– I am OBSESSED with this. Obsessed! It is a beautiful holographic glitter topper that has some serious sparkle! I keep putting it on everything because I just can’t help myself.

MAC Riri Woo– I’m SO happy I got my hands on this. This is a very bright and vibrant red, and the formula is amazing. Review coming soon!

What were your polish favorites this month?

MAC Impassioned

MAC11

Impassioned is a color from MAC’s permanent polish line that was repromoted in the recent Indulge collection. Described as a “bright warm pink”, it’s a little more red than that; however, it is still pink if that makes sense. This polish is REALLY difficult to describe! I don’t have anything quite like it.

The shade is definitely warm toned; it also borders on looking neon. I did need three coats for opacity, but I find that MAC’s formula wears really well on my nails. It looks a lot more red in the photos than it does in real life. If I had to compare it to something, I would say it is a pinker version of OPI Cajun Shrimp!

MAC Sinfully Sweet!

SS11

MAC Sinfully Sweet is a new polish from the Indulge collection. Described as “sparkling champagne with gold pearl”, it is shiny and sparkling! I love this color. Interestingly, I found that it looks different than Temptalia’s swatches. Hers looks more gray/taupe, whereas I felt the gold really shined through on my polish. Maybe it’s the lighting?

Anyway, this polish is so gorgeous and it applies nicely as well. It definitely has a bit of sparkle to it, and actually reminds me a bit of one of my favorite OPI polishes, Designer de Better, but more gold. I think I am going to do a comparison post with this polish to see what might be similar.

The formula is smooth and I used three thin coats. I know MAC nail polish often has a bad reputation, but their wear time is amazing on my nails compared to other brands. This is a limited edition polish and available now on MAC’s website.

MAC Sweet Pop

sweetpop11

MAC Sweet Pop is from this summer’s all about orange collection. I LOVE this color. It has a bit of a pastel, glowy feel to it in person. It also wears well. I wore this for five days before removing it, and it still looked great. Although the photo doesn’t reflect it, It looks so amazing with OPI When Monkeys Fly over it!

The formula is a little streaky, but nothing that can’t be worked with. It is still smooth and levels out nicely. This is a unique shade and still available on MAC’s website if it is a shade that you like!

This might be one of my favorite polish colors of all time. It is amazing! I may do a comparison post with some other peach shades just to see how they compare. What do you think of this color?

Periwinkle Comparisons

peri

After a reader comment wondering about how Sail la Vie compared to China Glaze Secret Periwinkle, I decided to do a quick comparison post about some polishes in the periwinkle family. Despite the fact that I don’t like purple, I do like periwinkle. It reminds me of lilacs and springtime!

peri2

Sail La Vie is a lot more blue than Secret Periwinkle; it’s also quite a bit brighter. These are all quite different from each other even though the swatches may seem similar. MAC Bleu Velvet has a lot more gray than the photo appears to have. OPI You’re Such a Budapest is definitely lavender over periwinkle.

As you can see, Secret Periwinkle is the darkest of the bunch. My favorite periwinkle shades are Bikini So Teeny, Cameo, and Sail La Vie, which all lean toward the blue side of the spectrum.

I hope this post is helpful to you! What is your favorite periwinkle shade?

Comprehensive Spring/Summer Polish Haul!

haul

Hello! Thanks so much for reading this post, and stopping by. I really appreciate it! 🙂 Today I’m sharing a rather large, but comprehensive polish haul, meaning that these are the polishes I’ve purchased in the last three months. In looking at this, I’m realizing that I forgot to add two, but I will mention them anyway. 🙂

Let’s start with the ones I completely forgot to include: Butter London Keks and Torch! Torch is a gorgeous coral/orange with golden shimmer, available from Nordstorm.

Now, I’ll start left to right with the top row of the photo.

Sally Hansen All Fired Up– This is so vibrant! It is a warm red with a tinge of orange. I saw one of my favorite bloggers write about it and it looked amazing on her. Plus, I had a coupon so it was justified. 😉

NARS Versailles– Oh. MY. Gosh. This gold is just flat out sexy. Love.

Illamasqua Hemlock, Pink Raindrops, and Raindrops– Need I say more about these? Cult classic must haves. I’ll be blogging about these soon, for sure.

These OPI shades I was really excited about. The place to buy OPI is at hair salons. I always see them marked down to buy one, get two free, which is a crazy deal. I got Suzi’s Hungary Again, A Roll in the Hague, and Glitzerland!

Now for the second row! That mini bottle of Candy Darling is from a NARS set that was released with the Andy Warhol collection. It’s your standard hot fuchsia!

OPI Charmed By A Snake is one I had to track down online, since it’s from the old India collection. This is a sexy brown/bronze shade.

These two Essie polishes are true cult classics: Ballet Slippers and Fiji!

haul2

Orly Beautiful Garbage is a teal holographic glitter polish in a jelly base.

These two shades from China Glaze are from the summer Sunsational collection! Keeping It Teal and Sun of a Peach are both JELLIES! I can’t wait to wear these.

Finally, I have two from MAC: Tropical and Bleu Velvet. Tropical is pure bronze glitter goodness, and Bleu Velvet is a light periwinkle shade. I know MAC gets a bad rap for their polish, but I have had pretty good luck with them so far!

Anything catching your eye?

MAC Fiestaware

fiesta11

Fiestaware is a permanent MAC polish that is going to be re-promoted in June’s All About Orange collection. This is a hard polish to capture on camera; I think it looks a lot darker in these photos than in real life. A more accurate color can be seen on Scrangie’s blog.

I’ve sad this in all of my MAC polish reviews, but they are notorious for having bad nail polish. So far I haven’t experienced that, but this one wasn’t as good as my other MAC polishes! The first coat was patchy, but eventually that evened out with more applications. This is three coats.

I love Fiestaware and think it is a beautiful polish! In real life, it is quite unique, at least to me! This is a very retro, vintage-style orange, which is great for summer! I’ve really been into orange lately!

MAC Grey Friday

GF11

While MAC is a cult classic brand with thousands of amazing makeup products, their reputation for nail polish, at least from what I have seen, is quite poor. Grey Friday is actually my first ever MAC nail polish, released on Black Friday with a matching lipstick. I don’t have the lipstick (it sold out quickly and it’s not something I would get use out of), but really love the polish. I like it so much that it was actually in my polish favorites of 2012! I could not stop wearing this in December.

This polish is perfect: it applies smoothly and it’s opaque in one coat. This is the perfect polish for impatient nail painters (like that alliteration there?).

This polish is described by MAC as “black matte with silver suede pearl,” which I find pretty accurate. It’s not difficult to remove, it isn’t streaky upon application. I really like this shade! It actually looks soft on the nail but is still edgy.

What do you think of this shade?
